London General is a bus company operating services in Greater London. It is a subsidiary of the Go-Ahead Group and operates most buses under contract to Transport for London.

Goat Road (GM)

Goat Road garage operates London bus routes 80, 280 and 470.

History

On 25 March 2023, the garage opened, with routes 280 and 470 transferred from Merton (AL) garage. It also acted as a base for the University Of Roehampton bus fleet.

On 28 June 2023, the University Of Roehampton bus fleet transferred to Waterside Way (PL) garage.

On 12 August 2023, route S1 transferred to this garage from Metrobus's Croydon (C) garage.

On 11 January 2024, the garage was temporarily closed due it becoming the storage location of a fire damaged Optare MetroDecker EV. At the same time, routes 280, 470 and S1 transferred to a temporary base in Volvo Bus & Trucks Croydon, operated by Metrobus

On 12 January 2024, the garage re-opened for TfL services.

On 2 March 2024, the hybrid allocation for route 80 transferred to this garage from Sutton (A) garage. At the same time, route S1 transferred back to Metrobus's Croydon (C) garage.

On 17 June 1995, London General commenced operating route 201.

On 13 September 1997, route 156 passed to Limebourne Buses. At the same time, route 170 was transferred to this garage.

On 17 June 2000, routes 200 and 201 passed to Mitcham Belle.

On 3 February 2001, London General commenced operating route 118.

On 1 December 2001, route 152 passed to Mitcham Belle.

On 19 April 2004, London General commenced operating route 655.

Morden (TBC)

Morden garage is planned to open in Winter 2025 potentially operating London bus routes 80, 118 and 157

History

On 30 January 2024, the Go-Ahead Group submitted a planning application to Merton Council regarding the redevelopment on 220 Garth Road into a new electric bus garage. The initial proposals contained plans to operate a part-allocation of route 80 and full allocation of routes 118 and 157. Subject planning approval by the local council, the construction is set to begin on 8 April 2024 taking approximately 15 months to complete.[1]

Northumberland Park (NP)

Northumberland Park garage operates London bus routes 67, 91, 106, 184, 212, 230, 232, 357, 444, 456, 476, W15, 24-hour route 76, school route 657 and night route N91.

History

In March 2012, First London sold Northumberland Park garage, along with its route contracts, vehicles and staff to the Go-Ahead Group with it becoming part of London General.

On 13 October 2012, London General commenced operating route 257.

On 27 April 2013, route 67 passed to Arriva London.

On 1 June 2013, London General commenced operating route 491.

On 8 June 2013, London General commenced operating route 327.

On 22 June 2013, route 20 was transferred to this garage from Blue Triangle's Rainham (BE) garage.

On 8 November 2014, London General commenced operating route 192.

On 7 March 2015, London General commenced operating route 657.

On 17 October 2015, London General commenced operating route 675.

On 16 February 2008, route 239 was withdrawn.

On 1 May 2010, route 322 passed to Abellio London.

Sutton garage operates London bus routes 80, 151, 154,S2 and 24-hour routes 93 and 213.

History

On 18 August 1995, London General commenced operating route N155.

On 30 November 1996, London General commenced operating route S1.

On 13 September 1997, route 164 was transferred from this garage to Merton (AL) garage.

On 11 October 1997, London General suffered a severe staff shortage, and London General surrendered many routes it previously owned, one being route S1, which passed to Epsom Coaches' Quality Line shortly after.

On 8 November 1997, route 164 was transferred from Merton (AL) garage to this garage.

On 15 November 1997, route 413 passed to Epsom Coaches' Quality Line.

On 28 May 1999, the Stockwell (SW) allocation of route N155 was transferred to this garage.

On 29 May 1999, route N44 was transferred from this garage from Stockwell (SW) garage.

On 30 April 2000, part of the Sutton (A) allocation of route N155 was transferred back to Stockwell (SW) garage.

History

On 25 May 2002, route 11 was transferred to Stockwell (SW) garage to accommodate for the Red Arrow Mercedes-Benz Citaro articulated buses.

On 28 August 2021, route 153 transferred to this garage from Northumberland (NP) garage.

On 29 April 2023, routes 507 and 521 were withdrawn. At the same time, route 214 transferred to this garage from Northumberland Park (NP) garage.

On 31 July 2023, London General commenced operating Superloop route SL6.

Belvedere (BV)

History

On 3 October 2009, London General took over the operations of this garage from East Thames Buses. At the same time, part of allocation for route N1 transferred to Mandela Way (MW) garage.

On 7 November 2009, route 132 was transferred to London Central’s Bexleyheath (BX) garage.

On 1 May 2010, route 108 transferred to London Central's New Cross (NX) garage and route 185 transferred to London Central's Camberwell (Q) garage. At the same time, route 661 and part of route 669’s operation was transferred to London Central’s Bexleyheath (BX) garage.

On 22 January 2011, route 244 was transferred to this garage from London Central’s Bexleyheath (BX) garage.

On 2 December 2017, the garage was announced closed. At the same time, route 244 and the part allocation of route 669 was transferred from this garage to London Central’s Bexleyheath (BX) garage and route 180 plus the part allocation for route N1 were transferred to London Central's Morden Wharf (MG) garage.

As a London General garage, it was operated as a satellite of London Central’s Bexleyheath (BX) garage. This means that Belvedere allocated buses could have been found on Bexleyheath routes as well. Engineering at this garage was done at or organized at Bexleyheath as well.

Mandela Way (MW)

History

On 13 October 2012, route 42 was transferred to this garage from London Central's Camberwell (Q) garage.

On 1 September 2014, routes 624 and the Mandela Way (MW) allocation for route 658 were transferred to London Central's Camberwell (Q) garage.

On 13 September 2014, route 42 was transferred from this garage to London Central's Camberwell (Q) garage.

On 20 September 2014, London General commenced operating route 100.

On 29 July 2017, Mandela Way (MW) garage was announced closed. At the same time, route 100 was transferred from this garage to Docklands Buses' Silvertown (SI) garage, routes 1, 453 and the Mandela Way (MW) allocation for route N1 were transferred from this garage to London Central's New Cross (NX) garage and the Mandela Way (MW) allocation for routes 507 and 521 were transferred from this garage to London Central's Camberwell (Q) garage.

Waterside Way (PL)

History

On 13 January 2007, routes 39 and 485 were transferred to this garage from Putney (AF) garage.

On 1 May 2010, London General commenced operating route G1.

On 31 March 2012, London General commenced operating route 493.

On 2 May 2015, route 485 was transferred to Merton (AL) from this garage.

On 10 August 2019, route 485 was transferred back to this garage from Putney (AF) garage. At the same time, route G1 was transferred to Stockwell (SW) garage.

On 4 September 2021, London General commenced operating route 690.

On 25 March 2023, Waterside Way (PL) garage was announced closed. At the same time, routes 485 and 493 was transferred to Merton (AL) garage, route 39 transferred to Putney (AF) garage, route 690 transferred to Stockwell (SW) garage and the Roehampton University bus fleet transferred to Goat Road (GM) garage.

On 28 June 2023, the garage was re-opened, acting as a depot for the commercial fleet. At the same time, it commenced operating commerical routes 838 & 840.

On 16 July 2023, routes 838 & 840 were suspended.

Waterside Way (PL) garage acts as storage for the commercial fleet.

Commercial routes 838 and 840 will recommence operation from 1 July 2024.
