London Central is a bus company operating in South London. It is a subsidiary of the Go-Ahead Group and operates services under contract to Transport for London.

Bexleyheath (BX)

Bexleyheath garage operates London bus routes 51, 89, 132, 244, B11, B12, B13, B16, school routes 601, 624, 625 and 658 and 24-hour route 486.

History

In January 2007, the garage received its first Alexander Dennis Enviro 400s for use on route 486.

On 6 December 2008, route 51 passed to Selkent.

On 24 January 2009, route B12 passed to Arriva Kent Thameside and routes 469, 601 and 602 passed to Selkent.

On 7 November 2009, route 132 was transferred to this garage.

On 1 May 2010, routes 321 (part of its allocation), 661 and 669 were transferred to this garage from New Cross (NX) and London General’s Belvedere (BV) garages, respectively.

On 22 January 2011, route 244 was transferred to London General's Belvedere (BV) garage from this garage.

On 31 December 2011, London Central commenced operating routes 625 and 658.

On 23 January 2016, route 229 passed to Arriva London and route B14 was transferred to this garage from Metrobus' Orpington (MB) garage.

On 28 May 2017, the Bexleyheath (BX) allocation for route N21 was transferred to New Cross (NX) garage.

On 2 December 2017, route 244 was transferred to this garage from London General's Belvedere (BV) garage.

On 4 December 2017, the Belvedere (BV) allocation for route 669 was transferred from London General's Belvedere (BV) garage to this garage.

On 20 January 2018, route 401 passed to Arriva London and route 422 passed to Stagecoach London.

On 3 February 2018, route B14 passed to Stagecoach London.

On 6 April 2019, the allocation for route N89 transferred to New Cross (NX) garage and the night allocation for route 321 transferred to this garage.

In June 2019, a working on route 291 from this garage was introduced.

On 22 June 2019, the allocation for route 51 was transferred from Metrobus' Orpington (MB) to this garage.

On 5 October 2019, routes 661 and 669 passed to Stagecoach London.

On 1 September 2020, the allocations for routes 624 and 658 were transferred from Camberwell (Q) to this garage. The Bexleyheath (BX) allocation for route 291 was withdrawn at the same time.

On 23 January 2021, London Central recommenced operating route B12.

On 21 January 2023, London Central recommenced operating route B13.

On 2 December 2023, the night allocation for route 321 transferred to New Cross (NX) garage

On 27 January 2024, London Central recommenced operating route 601.

Route N89 will transfer back to this garage from New Cross (NX) garage from 2024.

This garage will temporarily act as a base for the Kent Fastrack service from November 2024 until Late 2025.

Camberwell garage operates London bus routes 1, 40, 42, 100, 108D, 185, 355, 360 and 484, 24-hour routes 12, 35 and 176, Superloop route SL6 and night routes N1 and N15 (additional workings only).

History

On 6 November 2004, route 12 ceased to be operated by Routemasters with Mercedes-Benz Citaro articulated buses taking over.

On 1 April 2006, London Central commenced operating routes 68, 468, N68 and X68.

On 2 May 2009, routes 35, 40 and N35 passed to Travel London.

On 1 May 2010, routes 42 and 185 transferred to this garage.

On 19 March 2011, route 484 passed to Abellio London.

On 31 March 2012, routes 345 and 355 transferred to this garage from London General's Stockwell (SW) and Merton (AL) garages.

On 1 September 2014, route 624 and the Mandela Way allocation for route 658 transferred to this garage.

On 13 September 2014, route 42 transferred to this garage from London General's Mandela Way (MW) garage.

On 30 April 2016, London Central recommenced operating routes 35 and 40. At the same time, route 345 passed to Abellio London.

On 27 August 2016, route 355 transferred from this garage to Metrobus' Croydon (C) garage.

On 29 July 2017, London General's Mandela Way (MW) allocation for routes 507 and 521 transferred to this garage.

On 11 November 2017, route 45 passed to Abellio London and London Central commenced operating route 176.

On 31 March 2018, routes 68 and N68 passed to Abellio London and route 468 passed to Arriva London. At the same time, route 188 transferred from Morden Wharf (MG) to this garage.

On 15 June 2019, route 100 was transferred to this garage from Docklands Buses's Silvertown (SI) garage.

On 31 August 2019, route 432 transferred to London General's Stockwell (SW) garage.

On 2 May 2020, route P5 passed to Abellio London.

On 1 September 2020, route 624 and route 658 transferred from this garage to Bexleyheath (BX) garage.

On 20 March 2021, London Central recommenced operating route 484.

On 28 August 2021, the allocations of routes 507 and 521 transferred to London General's Waterloo (RA) garage.

On 18 March 2023, London Central commenced operating two additional journeys on route N15.

On 31 July 2023, route X68 was renumbered to Superloop route SL6.

On 30 September 2023, routes 1 and N1 transferred to this garage from Morden Wharf (MG) garage. At the same time, route 108D transferred to this garage from New Cross (NX) garage, route 188 transferred from this garage back to Morden Wharf (MG) garage and route 355 transferred back to this garage from Croydon (C) garage.

Route 355 will transfer to London General from 7 December 2024.

London Central will commence operating route N35 from TBC.

Morden Wharf (MG)

Morden Wharf garage operates routes 178, 225, 286, 291, 386, 469 and 24-hour routes 108 and 188.

History

On 29 July 2017, this garage opened to replace London General’s Mandela Way and Belvedere garages, and routes 108 (except the 108D variant and the NX251-252 duties which remained at New Cross (NX) garage. At the same time, routes 129 and 286 were transferred from New Cross (NX) garage to this garage.

On 11 November 2017, London Central recommenced operating route 188.

On 2 December 2017, route 180 and the Belvedere (BV) allocation for route N1 were transferred from London General's Belvedere (BV) garage to this garage.

On 3 February 2018, route 225 was transferred from New Cross (NX) garage to this garage.

On 17 March 2018, route 1 and the New Cross (NX) allocation of route N1 was transferred from New Cross (NX) garage to this garage.

On 31 March 2018, route 188 was transferred from this garage to Camberwell (Q) garage.

On 2 June 2018, London Central commenced operating route 386.

On 8 December 2018, London Central commenced operating route 291.

On 6 April 2019, part of the allocation for route N1 was transferred to Peckham (PM) garage.

On 29 June 2019, route 178 was transferred to this garage from New Cross (NX) garage.

On 23 January 2021, London Central recommenced operating route 469.

On 2 October 2021, route 180 passed to Stagecoach London.

On 4 February 2023, route 129 transferred back to New Cross (NX) garage.

History

On 8 February 2003, the garage also began operating Mercedes-Benz Citaro articulated buses on route 436.

On 29 January 2005, route 36 ceased to be operated by Routemasters with one man operated double deckers taking over and the New Cross (NX) allocation for route 89 was transferred to Bexleyheath (BX) garage.

On 4 February 2006, routes 343 and N343 passed to Travel London.

On 19 March 2011, routes 172 and C10 passed to Abellio London.

On 4 June 2011, London Central commenced operating route 129.

On 29 September 2012, the Bexleyheath (BX) allocation for route 321 was transferred to this garage.

On 13 October 2012, route 621 passed to Stagecoach London.

On 12 July 2014, London Central commenced operating route 286.

On 27 May 2017, London Central commenced operating N136.

On 28 May 2017, the Bexleyheath (BX) allocation for route N21 was transferred to this garage.

On 29 July 2017, routes 1, 453 and the Mandela Way (MW) allocation for route N1 was transferred to this garage from London General's Mandela Way (MW) garage. At same time, routes 108 (except double deck trips and 2 electric workings which remain with this garage), 129 and 286 were transferred from this garage to Morden Wharf (MG) garage.

On 3 February 2018, route 225 was transferred from this garage to Morden Wharf (MG) garage. At the same time, London Central recommenced operating routes 343 and N343.

On 17 March 2018, route 1 and the New Cross (NX) allocation of route N1 was transferred from this garage to Morden Wharf (MG) garage. At the same time, London Central recommenced operating route 172.

On 8 December 2018, London Central commenced operating route 178.

On 6 April 2019, the night allocation for route 321 was transferred to Bexleyheath (BX) garage and route N89 was transferred to this garage.

On 29 June 2019, route 178 was transferred to Morden Wharf (MG) garage.

On 4 February 2023, route 129 transferred back to this garage from Morden Wharf (MG) garage.

On 30 September 2023, route 108D transferred to Camberwell (Q) garage.

On 2 December 2023, the night allocation of route 321 was transferred back to this garage.

London Central will commence operating route P4 from 27 April 2024.

Route N89 will transfer back to Bexleyheath (BX) garage from 2024.

The operation of route 129 will transfer to Blue Triangle from 1 March 2025.

History

On 9 October 2004, route 37 was transferred to this garage from London General’s Stockwell (SW) garage. At the same time, routes 381, P13 and N381 passed to Travel London.

On 6 April 2019, part of the allocation for route N1 was transferred to this garage and the Peckham (PM) allocation for route 36 was transferred to New Cross (NX).

On 13 November 2021, routes 63 and N63 passed to Abellio London.

On 18 June 2022, route 197 was transferred to this garage from Metrobus' Croydon (C) garage.

On 30 September 2023, the allocation for route N1 transferred from this garage to Camberwell (Q).

On 11 November 2023, route 363 passed to Abellio London.
