London Buses route W12 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between Wanstead and Coppermill Lane, it is operated by CT Plus.


HistoryEdit

Route W12 commenced operating on 19 November 1988 between Wanstead Woodbine Place and Walthamstow South Grove via High Street - Grosvenor Road - Stanstead Road - Nightingale Lane - Elmcroft Avenue - Colvin Gardens - Charnwood Drive - Chigwell Road - George Lane - South Woodford Station - Mulberry Way - The Viaduct - George Lane - Woodford Road - Snaresbrook - Snaresbrook Road - Lea Bridge Road - Whipps Cross Roundabout - Whipps Cross Road - Whipps Cross Roundabout - Lea Bridge Road - Shernhall Street - Church Lane - Church End - Vestry Road - East Avenue - Wingfield Road - Grosvenor Park Road - Hoe Street - Selborne Road, as Monday to Saturday route. The route was initially operated by London Forest from their Walthamstow (WW) garage using MCW Metroriders.

In 1991, the route passed to Thamesway but still operating from Walthamstow (WW) garage using Reeve Burgess bodied Mercedes 709Ds.

In 1995, the route was diverted in Walthamstow to Cogan Avenue and reouted via grounds of Whipps Cross Hospital.

In 1996, a Sunday service was introduced.

In 1998, the route passed to First Capital operating from their Ponders End (PE) garage using Marshall bodied Mercedes Varios.

In 2000, the route was rerouted at Walthamstow via withdrawn Route W17 to Coppermill Lane - the Cogan Avenue section replaced by revised W15.

In 2001, the allocation was transferred from Ponders End (PE) to Hackney (H) garages.

In 2002, the route was converted to low floor operation using Marshall Capital bodied Dennis Dart SLFs.

In 2005, the route was retained by First London using Optare Solos.

In 2009, the allocation was transferred to Northumberland Park (NP) garage.

In 2010, the route passed to CT Plus operating from their Ash Grove (HK) garage using Optare Solos.

On 4 March 2017, the route was retained by CT Plus.
