London Buses route U5 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between Hayes and Uxbridge, it is operated by Abellio London.
Route U5 commenced operation on 24 January 2004 between Hayes & Harlington and Uxbridge stations via Stockley Park - Porters Way - West Drayton - Hillingdon Hospital - Cowley. The route was operated by First Centrewest at their Uxbridge (UX) garage using Caetano Nimbus bodied Dennis Dart SLFs. The route was introduced to replace the withdrawn section of route U1 between Hillingdon Hospital and Hayes.
On 1 May 2010, the route was retained by First London with brand new Alexander Dennis Enviro 200 Darts introduced.
On 26 September 2015, the route was extended from Hayes & Harlington Station to Hayes Asda.
On 20 August 2016, the allocation was transferred to Hayes (HZ) garage.
On 29 April 2017, the route passed to Abellio London operating from their Fulwell (TF) garage and was converted to double deck operation using Enviro 400 MMC bodied Alexander Dennis E40Hs and Alexander Dennis Enviro 400Hs. The route was diverted at Stockley Park to run via Dawley Road, North Hyde Road, Hayes Station to Clarendon Road at the same time.
On 5 August 2017, the allocation was transferred to Hayes (WS) garage and the route was converted to full Enviro 400 MMC bodied Alexander Dennis E40H operation.
