London Buses route U5 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between Hayes and Uxbridge, it is operated by Metroline.


Route U5 commenced operating on 24 January 2004 between Hayes & Harlington and Uxbridge stations via Stockley Park - Porters Way - West Drayton - Hillingdon Hospital - Cowley. The route was operated by First Centrewest at their Uxbridge (UX) garage using Caetano Nimbus bodied Dennis Dart SLFs. The route was introduced to replace the withdrawn section of route U1 between Hillingdon Hospital and Hayes.

On 1 May 2010, the route was retained by First London with Alexander Dennis Enviro 200 Darts introduced.

On 22 June 2013, the route was included in the sale of First London's Uxbridge garage (UX) to Metroline.

On 26 September 2015, the route was extended from Hayes & Harlington Station to Hayes Asda.

On 20 August 2016, the allocation was transferred to Hayes (HZ) garage.

The route will be passed to Abellio London operating from their Hayes (WS) garage and the will be converted to double deck operation using Enviro 400 MMC bodied Alexander Dennis E40Hs from 29 April 2017. The route will also be re-routed between Hayes and Stockley Park via the current route 350 at the same time.
