London Buses route R6 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between St Mary Cray and Orpington, it is operated by London General.


History 

Route R6 commenced operating on 1 December 2001 between St Mary Cray Station and Orpington Station via Station Approach - Station Road - Orpington War Memorial - Orpington High Street - Chislehurst Road - Goodmead Road - Perry Hall Road - Orpington High Street - Lower Road - Kent Road - St. Mary Cray High Street - Blacksmiths Lane - Burrfield Drive - Crockenhill Road - Okemore Gardens - Sweeps Lane - Molash Road - Wotton Green - Wotten Green - Sandway Road - Mill Brook Road - Station Road - Sevenoaks Way - Station Approach. The route was initially operated by Crystals from their Crayford (FR) garage using Optare Solos.

On 5 March 2005, the route was included in the sale of Tellings Golden Miller's Crayford (FR) garage to Metrobus and the allocation was transferred to Orpington (MB) garage.

On 18 March 2006, the Optare Solos were replaced by Plaxton Pointer 2 bodied Dennis Dart SLFs.

On 2 December 2006, the route passed to First London from their Orpington (Y) garage with Marshall Capital bodied Dennis Dart SLFs introduced.

On 8 December 2007, the route was included in the sale of First London's Orpington (Y) garage to Metrobus and the allocation was transfered to Orpington (MB) garage.

On 3 December 2011, the route was retained by Metrobus using Plaxton Pointer 2 bodied Dennis Dart SLFs.

In July 2014, the Go-Ahead Group restructured its bus operations, which included the transfer of Route R6 from Metrobus to Go-Ahead London.

On 1 April 2017, the route was retained by London General using Wright StreetLites.
