London Buses route N31 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between Camden Town and Clapham Junction, it is operated by Tower Transit.

History Edit

Night bus N31 shares the night service with N28 for routes 28, 31 and 328.

Route N31 commenced operating on 11 November 1989 between Camden Town and Camden Town via Camden Palace - Camden High Street - Chalk Farm - Swiss Cottage - Adelaide Road - Kilburn - Maida Hill - Westbourne Park - Notting Hill Gate - Kensington - Earls Court - Fulham Road - Fulham Broadway - North End Road - Olympia - Kensington - Notting Hill Gate as a Friday and Saturday night service. The route was initially operated by CentreWest from their Westbourne Park (X) garage using Alexander bodied Mercedes 811Ds.

On 18 July 1992, a Sunday to Thursday night service was introduced and the Alexander bodied Mercedes 811Ds were replaced by Wright Handybus bodied Dennis Darts.

On 29 May 1999, the route was diverted at Redcliffe Gardens to run to Clapham JUnction, the lost section was replaced by new N28 and the route was converted to low floor operation using Marshall Capital bodied Dennis Dart SLFs.

On 31 January 2004, the terminal at Clapham Junction was changed to lay-by on St John's Hill.

On 5 June 2004, the route was converted to double deck operation using Wright Eclipse Gemini bodied Volvo B7TLs.

On 1 October 2011, the allocation was transferred to Atlas Road (AS) garage.

In June 2013, the route was included in the sale of First London's Atlas Road garage to Tower Transit.
