London Buses route N19 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between Clapham Junction and Finsbury Park Station, it is operated by Arriva London.
History[]
Route N19 commenced operating on 28 October 1989 between Finsbury Park Station and Clapham Junction Boutflower Road. The route initially operated by London General from their Gillingham Street (GM) garage using MCW Metrobuses.
On 17 July 1993, Gillingham Street (GM) was announced closed and the allocation was transferred to Stockwell (SW) garage.
On 27 June 1997, the route was rerouted between Cambridge Circus and Piccadilly Circus direct via Shaftesbury Avenue instead of Charing Cross Road and Trafalgar Square.
On 29 April 2000, the route passed to Arriva London operating from their Brixton (BN) garage using MCW Metrobuses.
In 2002, the route was converted to low floor operation using Alexander ALX400 bodied DAF DB250LFs.
On 2 April 2005, the route was retained by Arriva London.
On 31 March 2012, the route passed back to London General operating from their Stockwell (SW) garage with brand new Wright Eclipse Gemini 2 bodied Volvo B9TLs and Volvo B5LHs introduced.
On 1 April 2017, the route passed back to Arriva London operating from their Tottenham (AR) garage with brand new Wright Eclipse Gemini 3 bodied Volvo B5LHs introduced.
On 12 October 2019, the Wright Eclipse Gemini 3 bodied Volvo B5LHs were replaced by existing New Routemasters.
The route will be retained by Arriva London from 30 March 2024.
