London Buses route N171 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between Hither Green and Tottenham Court Road, it is operated by London Central.
History
The original N171 route ran from Tottenham Court Road to Hither Green station. In 2006, the route was changed to terminate at Catford Bus Garage instead of Hither Green, and so mirror the day 171 route.
The route initially used Leyland Titans.
In 2000, the Leyland Titans were replaced by Volvo Olympians.
In 2001, the route was converted to low floor using Plaxton President bodied Volvo B7TLs.
On 25 June 2010, a consultation was held, proposing to reintroduce the service to Hither Green.
On 29 April 2011, following the consultation, the N171 was rerouted to Hither Green station and the route was retained by London Central with brand new Wright Eclipse Gemini 2 bodied Volvo B9TLs were introduced.
The Wright Eclipse Gemini 2 bodied Volvo B9TLs will be replaced by brand new Enviro 400 MMC bodied Alexander Dennis E40Hs from 28 April 2018.
