London Buses route N155 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between Morden and Aldwych, it is operated by London General.


History[]

Route N155 commenced on 18 August 1995 between Trafalgar Square and Sutton Station via Westminster Bridge - Kennington Road - Oval - Stockwell - Clapham - Balham - Tooting - Colliers Wood - South Wimbledon - Morden - St Helier. The route was initially operated by London General from their Sutton (A) and Stockwell (SW) garages using MCW Metrobuses. The route was introduced to replace withdrawn route N87 between Trafalgar Square and Tooting.

On 28 June 1996, the route was rerouted between Westminster Bridge Road and Oval via Elephant & Castle.

On 11 December 1997, the Sutton terminal was changed to Sutton Court Road, and Volvo Olympians were introduced.

On 12 December 1998, the route was retained by London General.

On 28 May 1999, the route was extended from Trafalgar Square to Aldwych, the Sutton terminal was reverted to Station and Stockwell (SW) allocation was transferred to Sutton (A) garage. The route was converted to full Volvo Olympian operation.

On 30 April 2000, part of the allocation was transferred to Stockwell (SW) garage and a low floor Plaxton President bodied Volvo B7TL was introduced.

On 12 December 2003, the route was withdrawn between Morden and Sutton, the St Helier to Sutton section was covered by the rerouting of Route N44. At the same time, the route was converted to full low floor operation using East Lancs Myllennium Vyking and Plaxton President bodied Volvo B7TLs and the route was retained by London General.

On 29 April 2005, the Stockwell (SW) allocation was transferred to Sutton (A) garage and was converted to full East Lancs Myllennium Vyking bodied Volvo B7TL operation.

In 2009, the Lancs Myllennium Vyking bodied Volvo B7TLs were replaced by Optare Olympus bodied Dennis Tridents.

On 10 December 2010, part of the allocation was transferred to Merton (AL) garage and Plaxton President bodied Volvo B7TLs were reintroduced and the route was retained by London General.

On 12 December 2015, the route was retained by London General using brand new Wright Eclipse Gemini 3 bodied Volvo B5LHs and Optare Olympus bodied Dennis Tridents.

On 30 September 2017, the Merton (AL) allocation was transferred to Stockwell (SW) garage.

On 30 March 2019, the Sutton (A) allocation was transferred to Stockwell (SW) garage and the route was converted to full Wright Eclipse Gemini 3 bodied Volvo B5LH operation.

On 3 September 2022, the route had a new timetable with buses running every 20 minutes on all nights of the week with journey times revised to better reflect current traffic levels.

On 10 December 2022, The route was retained by London General.
