London Buses route N13 was a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. It ran between North Finchley and Aldwych, and was last operated by London Sovereign.
History[]
Night bus N13 was the night service for routes 13, 82 and 113 between North Finchley and Aldwych.
Route N13 commenced operation on 13 April 1984 between Trafalgar Square and North Finchley via Piccadilly Circus - Oxford Circus - Baker Street - St John's Wood - Swiss Cottage - Finchley Road - Golders Green - Finchley Central. The route was initially operated by London Transport from their Finchley (FY) Garage using MCW Metrobuses.
On 27 October 1984, the route was extended from North Finchley to Barnet Church, via the current route 263.
On 18 July 1992, the route was extended in Central London to Victoria station, running via Trafalgar Square, Whitehall and Westminster. Leyland Titans were introduced at the same time
On 4 December 1993, the allocation was transferred to Potters Bar (PB) garage. The Leyland Titans and the MCW Metrobuses were replaced by Alexander bodied Scania N112DRBs at the same time.
On 23 June 1995, the route passed to MTL London operating from their Holloway (HT) garage with MCW Metrobuses introduced. At the same time, the route was withdrawn between North Finchley and Potters Bar and also between Trafalgar Square and Victoria.
On 1 September 2001, the route passed to London Sovereign operating from their Edgware (BT) garage. The route was also extended from Trafalgar Square to Aldwych to follow the day route at the same time. London Sovereign's service on the N13 initially used a mixture of Volvo Olympians, Optare Spectra bodied DAF DB250LFs and Plaxton President bodied DAF DB250LFs and Volvo B7TLs.
On 22 October 2005, brand new Scania OmniDekkas were introduced.
On 30 August 2008, the route was retained by London Sovereign.
On 31 August 2013, the route was retained by London Sovereign with new Wright Eclipse Gemini 2 bodied Volvo B5LHs introduced.
In July 2016, brand new Wright Eclipse Gemini 3 bodied Volvo B5LHs were introduced.
In 2016, brand new Wright SRM bodied Volvo B5LHs were introduced.
On 1 April 2017, the route was withdrawn and replaced by a 24-hour service on route 13.
