London Buses route H98 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between Hayes End and Hounslow, it is operated by London United.
History[]
Route H98 commenced operation on 1 December 1990 between Hounslow Bus Station and Hayes End Angel Lane via Hounslow West - Cranford - Harlington Corner - Harlington - Hayes - Church Road - Uxbridge Road as Monday to Saturday service. The route was initially operated by London United from their Hounslow (AV) garage from their Duple Dartline bodied Dennis Darts. The route was introduced to replace withdrawn route 98.
On 31 January 1994, the school day journeys were introduced using a Leyland Lynx.
On 26 November 1994, the Duple Dartline bodied Dennis Darts were replaced by Plaxton Pointer bodied Dennis Darts and the Leyland Lynx was replaced by an MCW Metrobus. At the same time, a Sunday service was introduced.
On 9 November 1996, the route was extended in Hayes End to Kingsway and the school day journeys were withdrawn.
On 6 March 1999, the route was retained by London United.
On 31 July 1999, the route was converted to low floor operation using Plaxton Pointer 2 bodied Dennis Dart SLFs.
On 6 March 2004, the route was retained by London United.
On 5 March 2011, the route was retained by London United with brand new Alexander Dennis Enviro 200 Darts introduced.
On 31 May 2014, brand new Optare MetroCity EVs were introduced alongside the existing Alexander Dennis Enviro 200 Darts.
On 1 October 2016, the route was partly converted to double deck operation using Alexander ALX400 bodied Dennis Tridents.
On 30 September 2017, the Alexander ALX400 bodied Dennis Tridents were replaced existing by Scania OmniCitys.
On 3 March 2018, the route was retained by London United.
On 30 June 2018, part of the allocation was transferred to Hounslow Heath (HH) garage.
On 18 March 2019, the Hounslow Heath (HH) allocation was transferred to Hounslow (AV) garage.
In August 2020, the route was converted to a full double deck operation using existing Scania OmniCitys.
On 16 February 2023, existing Alexander Dennis Enviro 400s were introduced alongside the existing Scania OmniCitys.
In September 2023, the route converted to a full Alexander Dennis Enviro 400 operation.
