London Buses route E8 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between Ealing Broadway and Hounslow, it is operated by Metroline.

HistoryEdit

Route E8 was introduced on 10 November 1990 between Ealing Broadway and Brentford County Court via Uxbridge Road - Hanwell BRoadway - Boston Road - Boston Manor Road - Half Acre. Operating by CentreWest from their Hanwell (HL) garage using Wright Nimbus bodied Renault S75 minibuses. The route was introduced to replace the withdrawn section of route E1 between Ealing Broadway and Brentford.

On 27 March 1993, Hanwell (HL) garage was announced as closed, with the allocation moved to the new Greenford (G) garage.

In 1997, the routepassed to Armchair operating from their Brentford (AH) garage using Plaxton Pointer bodied Dennis Dart SLFs.

In 2002, route E8 was retained by Armchair using dual-door Plaxton Pointer 2 bodied Dennis Dart SLFs.

In November 2004, route E8 was included in the sale of Armchair to ComfortDelGro.

On 6 January 2007, ComfortDelGro integrated Armchair into its Metroline subsidiary.

On 6 January 2007, a double deck school day journey from Ealing to Brentford using an Alexander ALX400 bodied Dennis Trident was introduced.

In April 2009, brand new Optare Tempo Hybrids were introduced.

In May 2009, the route was retained by Metroline using Plaxton Pointer 2 bodied Dennis Dart SLFs and Optare Tempos. The double deck school day journeys were withdrawn at the same time.

In August 2009, the Plaxton Pointer 2 bodied Dennis Dart SLFs were replaced by brand new Alexander Dennis Enviro 200 Darts.

On 2 November 2009, the double deck school day journeys were reintroduced using Plaxton President bodied Dennis Tridents.

In 2013, the Optare Tempo Hybrids were withdrawn.

In August 2015, MCV Evolution bodied MAN 12.240 were introduced.

In 2015, the Plaxton President bodied Dennis Tridents were replaced by Wright Eclipse Gemini 2 bodied Volvo B9TLs.

On 28 May 2016, the route was retained by Metroline, extended from Brentford to Hounslow Bell Corner and converted fully to double deck using Wright Eclipse Gemini 2 bodied Volvo B9TLs. The double deck school day journeys were withdrawn at the same time.
