London Buses route B16 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between Kidbrooke and Bexleyheath, it is operated by London Central.

HistoryEdit

Route B16 commenced operating on 8 July 1989 between Bexleyheath Garage and Kidbrooke Ferrier Estate via Bexleyheath - Welling - Falconwood - Eltham Park - Eltham Station - Eltham Hill. The route was initially operated by London Central from their Bexleyheath (BX) garage using Optare StarRiders. The route was introduced to replace the withdrawn section of route 160 between Eltham and Welling and to replace withdrawn route B1 between Eltham and Kidbroke.

On 6 October 1990, the Saturday service was withdrawn between Bexleyheath Shopping Centre and Bexleyheath garage.

On 19 January 1991, the Sunday service was extended from Eltham to Kidbrooke.

On 11 July 1992, the route was revised to run end to end at all times.

On 1 April 1995, the Optare StarRiders were replaced by Plaxton Pointer bodied Dennis Darts.

On 23 January 1999, the route was retained by London Central.

On 1 August 1999, the route was converted to low floor operation using Marshall Capital bodied Dennis Dart SLFs.

On 22 January 2011, the route was retained by London Central with brand new Alexander Dennis Enviro 200 Darts.

On 27 June 2013, the route was rerouted directly along Kidbrooke Park Road then double running along Weigall Road and Moorhead Way to turning circle outside Wingfield School.
