London Buses route 82 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between North Finchley and Victoria, it is operated by Metroline.

History

Route 82 commenced operating on 21 June 1986 between Victoria and Barnet Chesterfield Road via Hyde Park Corner - Marble Arch - Baker Street - Swiss Cottage - Finchley Road - Golders Green - Finchley - North Finchley - Whetstone - Longmore Avenue - New Barnet Station - Barnet Church. The route was initially operated by London Transport from their Finchley (FY) garage using MCW Metrobuses. The route was introduced to replace former route 2B between Baker Street & Golders Green Station and the Sunday service of the former route 26.

On 2 February 1989, Leyland Titans were introduced and the section between Barnet and North Finchley was withdrawn and replaced by diverting route 84A.

On 30 November 1991, the route was extended at all times to North Finchley.

On 4 December 1993, Finchley (FY) was announced closed and the allocation was transferred to Potters Bar (PB) garage. The route was converted to full MCW Metrobus operation at the same time.

In September 2001, the route was converted to low floor operation using Plaxton President bodied Volvo B7TLs.

In 2002, the Plaxton President bodied Volvo B7TLs were replaced by Plaxton President bodied Dennis Tridents.

On 2 April 2005, the route was retained by Metroline using Plaxton President bodied Dennis Tridents.

on 31 March 2012, the route was retained by Metroline using Plaxton President bodied Dennis Tridents.

In March 2013, the Plaxton President bodied Dennis Tridents were replaced by brand new Alexander Dennis Enviro 400s.

In 2015, brand new Wright Eclipse Gemini 3 bodied Volvo B5LHs were introduced.

The route will be discontinued from 1 April 2017.
