London Buses route 640 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between South Harrow and Clamp Hill, it is operated by Metroline.
Route 640 commenced operating on 4 December 1999 between South Harrow and Clamp Hill via Harrow - Wealdstone. The route was initially operated by Metroline from their Harrow Weald (HD) garage using MCW Metrobuses.
On 4 September 2004, the route was retained by Metroline and was converted to low floor operation using Alexander ALX400 bodied Dennis Tridents.
In November 2004, the Alexander ALX400 bodied Dennis Tridents were replaced by Plaxton President bodied Volvo B7TLs.
On 5 September 2009, the route passed to Arriva The Shires operating from their Watford (GR) garage using brand new Wright Gemini 2 bodied VDL DB300s.
On 30 August 2014, the route passed to Metroline from their Harrow Weald (HD) garage using Wright Eclipse Gemini 2 bodied Volvo B9TLs.
In September 2016, the Wright Eclipse Gemini 2 bodied Volvo B9TLs were replaced by Wright Eclipse Gemini 3 bodied Volvo B5LHs.
