London Buses route 609 was a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. It ran between Hammersmith and Mortlake, it was operated by Metroline.

History[]

Route 609 commenced operation on 30 October 1999 between Hammersmith and Harrodian School via Barnes Pond - Castelnau - Lonsdale Road. The route was initially operated by Armchair from their Brentford (AH) garage using Alexander ALX200 bodied Dennis Dart SLFs. The route was introduced the school service on route 209.

On 21 August 2004, the route was retained by Armchair.

On 6 January 2007, the route was included in the sale of Armchair to Metroline.

On 20 August 2011, the route was retained by Metroline with Plaxton Pointer 2 bodied Dennis Dart SLFs introduced.

On 1 July 2012, the Plaxton Pointer 2 bodied Dennis Dart SLFs were replaced by Alexander Dennis Enviro 200 Darts.

On 11 April 2019, owing to a weak bridge, the route was temporarily withdrawn.

On 18 May 2019, after 19 years of service, the route was discontinued indefinitely.
