London Buses route 270 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between Mitcham and Putney Bridge, it is operated by London General.

History Edit

Route 270 commenced operation on 25 May 1991 between Putney Bridge Station and Mitcham Cricketers via Upper Richmond Road - (return via Putney Bridge Road) - Wandsworth - Garrat Lane - Earlsfield - Tooting Broadway. The route was introduced to replace withdrawn sections of routes 219, 220 and 280. The route was initially operated by London General from their Merton (AL) garage with MCW Metrobuses.

On 22 July 2000, the route was converted to low floor operation using Plaxton President bodied Volvo B7TLs.

On 7 March 2009, the route was diverted at Fair Green to Commonside West instead of Cricketers

On 1 June 2013, the route was retained by London General.

In April 2015, a Wright Gemini 2 bodied VDL DB300 was introduced.

In July 2016, the Plaxton President bodied Volvo B7TLs were replaced by Alexander Dennis Enviro 400s and Wright Eclipse Gemini bodied Volvo B7TLs.
