London Buses route 255 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between Pollards Hill and Balham, it is operated by Arriva London.
Route 255 commenced operating on 29 August 1998 between Pollards Hill Westmoreland Way and Clapham Common Old Town via South Lodge Avenue - Rowan Road - Streatham Vale - Streatham Common - Streatham High Road - Streatham Hill Station - Thornton Avenue - Clapham Park - Poynders Road - Clapham Common South Side. The route was initially operated by South London from their Thornton Heath (TH) garage using Plaxton Pointer bodied Dennis Darts. The route was introduced to replace the withdrawn part of route 60 between Streatham Garage and Clapham Common.
On 30 January 1999, the route was diverted at Rowan Road via Norbury Station instead of Streatham Vale.
On 10 February 2003, the Pollards Hill terminal changed to terminate in South Lodge Avenue.
In Spring 2003, the route was converted to low floor operation using Plaxton Pointer 2 bodied Dennis Dart SLFs.
On 30 August 2003, the route was retained by Arriva London and was extended Extended via Clapham Road to Stockwell Station.
On 30 August 2008, the route was withdrawn between Streatham Hill & Stockwell Station and this section was replaced by revised Route 50.
In March 2009, the Plaxton Pointer 2 bodied Dennis Dart SLFs were replaced by Wright Cadet bodied DAF SB120's.
On 5 June 2010, the route was retained by Arriva London.
On 1 March 2014, the route was extended from Streatham Hill to Balham.
In October 2015, the Wright Cadet bodied DAF SB120's were replaced by Alexander Dennis Enviro 200 Darts.
On 26 August 2017, the route was retained by Arriva London.
