London Buses route 241 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between Stratford City and Canning Town, it is operated by Stagecoach London.
History
Route 241 commenced operating on 7 September 1968 between Manor House station and Victoria & Albert Docks via Tottenham Hale, Leyton station, Stratford and Plaistow with AEC Routemasters replacing the withdrawn section of route 41 between Tottenham Hale and Victoria & Albert Docks.
On 16 June 1973, it was withdrawn between Manor House station and Stratford bus station being replaced by route 230. It was converted to one operation on the same date with Daimler Fleetlines.
On 13 June 1976, it was diverted from Victoria & Albert Docks to Kier Hardie Trading Estate and extended to Canning Town.
On 26 September 1992, route 241 was converted to minibus operation, it was converted back to double operation on 16 September 1995.
In 2001, the route was converted to low floor with Alexander ALX400 bodied Dennis Tridents and and the Sunday allocation moved to BW.
In 2003, the allocation was transferred from Bow (BW) to Stratford (SD) garages.
In May 2004, the route was retained by Stagecoach London.
In 2008, Stratford (SD) was announced closed and the allocation moved to West Ham (WH) garage.
In May 2011, the route was temporary withdrawn between Prince Regent & Canning Town - a special free service 541 provided replacement between Canning Town & Keir Hardie Estate. The route reverted to Canning Town in 2015.
On 10 September 2011, route 241 was extended from Stratford Bus Station to Stratford City bus station to coincide with the opening of Westfield Stratford City.
