London Buses route 230 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between Wood Green and Upper Walthamstow, it is operated by Arriva London.

HistoryEdit

Route 230 commenced operating on 16 June 1973 between Stratford Bus Station and Manor House via Angel Lane - Leyton Stn - Markhouse Road - Forest Road - Tottenham Hale - Seven Sisters as a Monday to Saturday service. The route was initially operated by London Transport from their Leyton (T) garage using AEC Routemasters. The route was introduced to replace route 241 between Manor House and Leyton.

On 19 March 1977, the route was diverted via Leyton Green instead of Church Road.

On 31 January 1981, yhe route was converted to one-person operation with Leyland Nationals. At the same time, the route was diverted at Bakers Arms to Whipps Cross and also extended from Manor House to Finsbury Park.

On 4 September 1982, the route was extended from Whipps Cross to Leytonstone via Route 262 and the evening service was withdrawn.

On 6 June 1987, the route was converted back to double deck using Leyland Titans and diverted at Seven Sisters via West Green Road and Turnpike Lane Station to Wood Green.

On 2 July 1988, the route rerouted at Walthamstow via Walthamstow Central instead of Markhouse Road.

On 1 February 1992, the route was rerouted at Seven Sisters via Phillip Lane instead of West Green Road.

On 22 June 1996, the route was Diverted at Whipps Cross to Upper Walthamstow and converted to single deck operation using Alexander Dash bodied Dennis Darts. At the same time, an evening and Sunday service was introduced.

On 8 October 1996, it was converted to low floor operation with Alexander ALX200 bodied Dennis Dart SLFs.

On 16 July 2004, it reverted to double deck operation with Alexander ALX400 bodied Dennis Tridents.

On 24 June 2006, it was retained by Stagecoach London.

On 22 June 2013, it passed to Arriva London operating from their Tottenham (AR) garage with new Wright Gemini 2 bodied VDL DB300s introduced.
