London Buses route 163 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between Wimbledon and Morden, it is operated by London General.
The route commenced operation on 11 July 1987 between Wimbledon Station and Morden Station via Hartfield Road - Wimbledon Chase - Raynes Park - Grand Drive - Hillcross Avenue as a Monday to Saturday service. The route was initially operated by London Buses from their Merton (AL) garage using Leyland Nationals. The route was introduced to replace the withdrawn section of route 156 between Raynes Park and Morden.
In 1988, the route was converted to double deck operation using Daimler Fleetlines.
In 1990, the allocation was transferred to Collier Wood Base (AA) garage.
In February 1990, the allocation was transferred back to Merton (AL) garage and MCW Metrobuses were introduced.
In May 1990, A Sunday service was introduced.
In 1996, the route was converted to low floor single deck operation using Plaxton Pointer 2 bodied Dennis Dart SLFs. A double deck school journey was introduced at the same time.
In 2000, part of the Sunday allocation was transferred to Sutton (A) garage.
In 2002, the Sunday Sutton (A) allocation was transferred to Merton (AL) and part of the Saturday allocation was transferred to Sutton (A) garage.
In 2006, the double deck school day journey was converted to low floor operation using Plaxton President bodied Volvo B7TLs.
On 6 December 2008, the route was retained by London General and the Saturday Sutton (A) alloctation was transferred to Merton (AL) garage. In April 2009, brand new Optare Esteem bodied Alexander Dennis Enviro 200s were introduced.
On 5 December 2015, the route was retained by London General.
In July 2016, the Plaxton President bodied Volvo B7TL were replaced by a Wright Eclipse Gemini bodied Volvo B7TL.
