London Buses route X68 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between West Croydon and Russell Square, it is operated by London Central.

History

Route X68 commenced operating on 27 October 1986 between Russell Square and West Croydon Bus Station via Holborn - Aldwych - Waterloo - then NON-STOP to West Norwood - Upper Norwood - Thornton Heath. The route was initially operated by London Transport from their Norwood (N) garage using Leyland Titans.

In 2000, the route was converted to low floor operation using Alexander ALX400 bodied DAF DB250LFs.

In 2004, the Alexander ALX400 bodied DAF DB250LFs were replaced by Alexander ALX400 bodied Volvo B7TLs.

On 03 April 2006, the route passed to London Central operating from their Camberwell (Q) garage using brand new Wright Eclipse Gemini bodied Volvo B7TLs.

On 2 April 2011, the route was retained by London Central.

On 4 April 2011, part of the allocation was transferred to Peckham (PM) and a Plaxton President bodied Volvo B7TL was introduced.

In 2014, Alexander Dennis Enviro 400s were introduced.

In October 2016, the Plaxton President bodied Volvo B7TLs was replaced by a brand new MCV EvoSeti bodied Volvo B5LH.

In February 2017, Optare Olympus bodied Dennis Tridents were introduced.
