London Buses route R11 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between Green Street Green and Sidcup, it is operated by London General

HistoryEdit

Route R11 commenced operating on 31 October 1987 between Bromley Common and Sidcup Queen Mary's Hospital via Green StreetT Green - Sevenoaks Road - Orpington Hospital - Orpington War Memorial - Orpington High Street - Cray Avenue - St Mary Cray Station - Chipperfield Road - Mickleham Road - Midfield Way -- Midfield Way - Cray Road - Foots Cray - Sidcup Police Station - Chislehurst Road . The route was initially operated by Roundabout from their Orpington (OB) garage using Optare Citypacers and Robin Hood bodied Ivecos.

On 16 July 1988, the route was rerouted at Crittals Corner via Sidcup By Pass and Tescos during shop opening hours. The Optare Citypacers and Robin Hood bodied Ivecos were replaced by MCW Metroriders at the same time.

In April 1990, the MCW Metroriders were replaced by Carlyle Dartline bodied Dennis Darts.

On 2 December 1995, the route passed to Swanley (SJ) garage with Plaxton Pointer bodied Dennis Darts and was revised to run at all times between Sidcup and Green Street Green.

On 12 August 2000, the allocation was transferred to Orpington (Y) garage and was withdrawn from Rose & Crown car park and revised to stand in High Street.

On 1 December 2001, the route was retained by First London.

On 12 January 2002, the Rose & Crown car park stand was reintroduced.

In February 2002, the route was converted to low floor using Marshall Capital bodied Dennis Dart SLFs.

On 8 December 2007. the route was included in the sale of First London's Orpington (Y) garage to Metrobus. The allocation was transferred to Orpington (MB) garage at the same time.

On 3 December 2011, the route was retained by Metrobus with brand new Alexander Dennis Enviro 200 Darts introduced.

In 2014, the Go-Ahead Group restructured its bus operations, which included the transfer of Route R11 from Metrobus to Go-Ahead London.

The route will be retained by London General with 9.6m Alexander Dennis Enviro 200 Darts introduced from 1 April 2017.
