London Buses route D6 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between Crossharbour and Ash Grove, it is operated by Docklands Buses.


Route D6 commenced operation on 4 March 1989 as a Monday to Saturday service between Hackney Central and Isle of Dogs District Centre via Mare Street - Cambridge Heath -Bethnal Green Stn - Mile End Stn - Burdett Road - Limehouse - East India Dock Road - Poplar - Prestons Road - Marshwall with Leyland Titans from Ash Grove (AG) garage. The route replaced the withdrawn section of route 106 between Mile End Gate and Isle of Dogs.

In 1990, the route was converted to single deck using Leyland Nationals.

In April 1991, the evening service was withdrawn.

In September 1991, the Ash Grove allocation was moved on Mon-Fri to West Ham (WH) garage, the Saturday allocation was transferred to Bow (BW) garage and the route was converted back to double deck operation using Leyland Titans.

In February 1992, the Monday to Friday service was converted to single deck again using Leyland Nationals.

In May 1992, the route passed to Capital Citybus operating from their Dagenham (DM) garage and a Sunday service was introduced.

In 1994, the Poplar terminal was revised to Blackwall DLR Station.

In 1996, the allocation was moved to Hackney (H) garage. The allocation was transferred back to Dagenham (DM) in 1997. The allocation was transferred back to Hackney (H0 garage in 1998.

In 1999, the route was retained by First Capital and the route was converted to single deck low floor operation using Marshall Capital bodied Dennis Dart SLFs.

In 2007, the allocation was transferred back to Dagenham (DM) garage.

In March 2010, the allocation was moved from Dagenham (DM) to Lea Interchange (LI) garages and Caetano Nimbus bodied Dennis Dart SLFs were introduced.

On 17 September 2011, the route passed to Docklands Buses operating from their Silvertown (SI) garage with brand new Alexander Dennis Enviro 200 Darts introduced.

The route will pass to CT Plus and will be operating from their Ash Grove (HK) garage using brand new Enviro 200 MMC bodied Alexander Dennis E20Ds from 15 September 2018.
