London Buses route 465 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between Kingston and Dorking, it is operated by Quality Line.
History
Route 465 commenced operating on 28 June 1997 between Teddington Police Station and Dorking Goodwyns via R Sandy Lane - Kingston - Surbiton - Chessington - Leatherhead - Dorking Townfield Court. The route was initially operated by London & Country from their Leatherhead (LH) garage using Plaxton Pointer bodied Dennis Dart SLFs. Before 28 June 1997 the route was a commercial route operated by London & Country.
On 1 May 1999, it passed to Tellings-Golden Miller from their Byfleet (TG) garage using Plaxton Pointer bodied Dennis Dart SLFs.
On 5 June 1999, the route was diverted at Leatherhead via Great Bookham to Effing Woodlands Road.
On 23 April 2000, the allocation was transferred to Fulwell (TF) garage.
On 27 January 2001, the route was withdrawn between Leatherhead and Effingham except for two peak journeys that double run via Effingham.
On 29 June 2001, the Peak journeys via Effingham were withdrawn.
On 1 September 2001, the Sunday extension to Goodwyns was withdrawn.
On 2 February 2002, the route was extended past Teddington to Fulwell TGM Depot.
On 29 June 2002, the route was retained by Tellings-Golden Miller with Caetano Nimbus bodied Dennis Dart SLFs introduced.
On 17 June 2005, route 465 was included in the sale of Tellings-Golden Miller to Travel London.
On 6 May 2006 ,the route was curtailed at Kingston and replaced by a new, less frequent route 481, despite a protest by a local group to keep the service.
On 30 June 2007, the route passed to Arriva Guildford & West Surrey from their Horsham (HM) garage with Alexander Dennis Enviro200 Darts introduced. The route rerouted between Kingston and Surbiton at the same time.
On 3 October 2009, the route 465 was included in the sale of Arriva Guildford & West Surrey's Horsham operation to Metrobus. It was the only Transport for London contract to be worked out of the company's Crawley (CY) garage.
On 30 June 2012, the route passed to Quality Line with brand new Optare Versas introduced.
The route is jointly managed by Transport for London and Surrey County Council.
The route will be retained by Quality Line with brand new Enviro 200 MMC bodied Alexander Alexander Dennis E20Ds introduced from 1 July 2017.
