London Buses route 407 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between Caterham and Sutton, it is operated by Abellio London.

History

Route 407 commenced operating on 31 August 1991 between Wallington and Caterham station replacing parts of routes 197A and 403. The route initially operated from Croydon (TC) garage using ECW bodied Leyland Olympians.

On 29 October 1994, it passed to London & Country operating from their Beddington Farm (CN) garage using Optare MetroRiders. The route was extended from Wallington to Sutton on the same date.

In 1995, the Optare MetroRiders were replaced by Plaxton Pointer bodied Dennis Darts.

In 1997, Northern Counties Paladin bodied Dennis Darts were introduced.

On 30 October 1999, the route was retained by Arriva London using low floor Alexander ALX200 bodied Dennis Dart SLFs.

On 1 September 2001, the allocation was transferred to Croydon (TC) garage.

On 30 October 2004, the route was retained by Arriva London using Alexander ALX200 bodied Dennis Dart SLFs and an Alexander ALX400 bodied DAF DB250LFs.

On 30 October 2009, the route passed to Abellio London operating from their Beddington Cross (BC) garage using 10.2m Alexander Dennis Enviro 200 Darts and an Alexander ALX400 bodied Dennis Trident.

On 1 November 2014, the route was retained by Abellio London using brand new 10.8m Alexander Dennis Enviro 200 Darts and a Wright Eclipse Gemini bodied Volvo B7TL.

In December 2016, the Wright Eclipse Gemini bodied Volvo B7TL was replaced by an Alexander ALX400 bodied Dennis Trident.
