London Buses route 316 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between Cricklewood and White City, it is operated by Metroline.


HistoryEdit

Route 316 commenced operating on 11 October 1997 between North Kensington St Charles Hospital and Neasden Brent Park Tesco via St Mark's Road - Barlby Road - Ladbroke Grove - Canal Way - Ladbroke Grove Sainsbury's - Canal Way - Ladbroke Grove - Kilburn Lane - Chamberlayne Road - Banister Road - Kilburn Lane - Premier Corner - Queens Park Station - Salusbury Road - Carlton Vale - Maida Hill - Kilburn Park Road - Rudolph Road - Cambridge Gardens - Kilburn Park Station - Cambridge Avenue - Kilburn High Road - Kilburn Station - Shoot,up Hill - Cricklewood Broadway - Edgware Road - Dollis Hill Lane - Coles Green Raod - Crest Road - Tanfield Avenue - Neasden Lane - North Circular Road - Great Central Way. The route was initially operated by Metroline from their Cricklewood (W) garage using Plaxton Pointer bodied Dennis Dart SLFs and the occasional MCW Metrobus. The route was introduced to replace route 16 between Cricklewood and Neasden.

On 11 October 2002, it passed to Thorpe operating from their Wembley (FE) garage using brand new Plaxton Pointer 2 bodied Dennis Dart SLFs. The double deck workings using MCW Metrobuses were withdrawn at the same time.

On 7 June 2003, the allocation was transferred to Perivale West (PA) garage.

In August 2004, it was included in the sale of Thorpe & Sons to Metroline.

On 21 May 2005, the allocation was transferred to Cricklewood (W) garage.

On 13 October 2007, the route was withdrawn between Cricklewood and Neasden, this section was replaced by new route 332.

In December 2007, Marshall Capital bodied Dennis Dart SLFs were introduced.

In May 2008, the Marshall Capital bodied Dennis Dart SLF were withdrawn and the route was converted to full Plaxton Pointer 2 bodied Dennis Dart SLF operation.

On On 29 November 2008, the route was extended from North Kensington to White City Bus Station to coincide with the opening of Westfield London.

On 10 October 2009, the route was retained by Metroline.

In November 2009,  the Plaxton Pointer 2 bodied Dennis Dart SLFs were replaced by brand new Alexander Dennis Enviro 200 Darts.

On 8 October 2016, the route was retained by Metroline.

On 21 January 2017, part of the allocation was transferred to Willesden (AC) garage.

On 1 April 2017, the Willesden (AC) allocation was transferred back to Cricklewood (W) garage.
