London Buses route 225 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between Hither Green and Canada Water, it is operated by London Central.
History
Route 225 commenced on 29 July 1989 between Lewisham Riverdale Centre and Rotherithe via Lewisham Way - New Cross - Trundleys Road - Surrey Quays - Redriff Road - Salter Road Brunel Road as a Monday to Saturday service. The route was initially operated Selkent by from their Catford (TL) garage using Optare StarRiders. The route was introduced to replace route 181 between between Lewisham and Rotherhithe.
In November 1989, Wright bodied Mercedes Benz 811Ds were introduced.
On 12 February 1994, the route was passed to Kentish Bus operating from their Lewisham (LM) garage using Northern Counties bodied Dennis Darts, the route was rerouted between Lewisham and New Cross via Brookmill Road and Deptford instead of Lewisham Way and a evening service was introduced.
On 18 July 1994, the allocation was transferred to Cambridge Heath (CH) garage.
On 13 April 1996, the route was diverted at Downtown via Rotherhithe Street instead of direct via Salter Road.
On 28 February 1998, the route was transferred within Arriva from Kentish Bus to Arriva London operating from Barking (DX) garage using Northern Counties bodied Dennis Darts.
On 19 September 1998, the route passed to Selkent operating from their Catford (TL) garage using Plaxton Pointer bodied Dennis Darts.
On 15 May 1999, the evening service now terminates at Riverdale Centre instead of Bus Station.
On 18 September 1999, the route was rerouted via Canada Water and now terminates at the new Bermondsey Station and a Sunday service was introduced.
On 17 March 2001, the route was passed to London Central operating from their New Cross (NX) garage and was converted to low floor operation using Plaxton Pointer bodied Dennis Dart SLFs.
On 18 March 2006, the route was withdrawn between Surrey Quays and Bermondsey via Downtown, this section replaced by revised route C10, the route was rerouted at Surrey Quays direct to Canada Water and was also extended via Route 181 from Lewisham to Hither Green. The route was retained by London Central with brand new Plaxton Pointer 2 bodied Dennis Dart SLFs introduced at the same time.
On 16 March 2013, the route was retained by London Central.
